Understanding NLP Personal Development & How they Can Help You Succeed

Using NLP Personal Development skills will help you to be more successful at your home business opportunity and every other part of your life.

What is NLP

The name leaves much to be desired. It sounds so technical and boring and yet it¡¦s based mostly on human behavior and the way that our brains sort and filter information. Many NLP Practitioners joke that NLP is so interesting that it deserves a sexier name.

What does "NLP" stand for?

The N is for Neuro - Which relates to neurology or the way that our 5 senses process information to our brains.

The L is for Linguistic - or language and includes both verbal and non-verbal language and how it effects on our minds and bodies.

The P is for Programming - We all love to be "programmed" don't we? : ) Actually programming refers to how we process and store information in our brains.

What can NLP Personal Development skills do for you?

Two important NLP Basics to Remember

I thought that this first concept was amazing when I heard it.

What the thinker thinks, the prover proves

The human mind can be viewed as having two main functions: a thinker and a prover. The thinker can be thought of as your conscious mind and the prover is your subconscious mind. The thinker can think anything. The prover has no such choice: whatever the thinker thinks, the prover arranges all incoming information to prove that thought to be true. If a person believes they are stupid, their prover or subconscious will sort and filter all incoming data to prove that belief to be true. If they believe they are smart, the prover will sort and filter incoming data to prove that belief true. If you believe you will always be poor, that life is unfair, and that people are basically rotten, your prover will find evidence of those beliefs. If you believe that you can become fantastically wealthy, that life is a wonderful adventure, and that people are intrinsically good, your prover will create an iron clad case to prove those beliefs to be correct. Of course, over time, the external reality of your life comes into line with whatever you've been thinking. So if you're unsure about what you believe, there's an easy way to find out: have a look around! Your external circumstances are the physical manifestation of your beliefs. You might even like to ask yourself what beliefs it would be useful for you to have. What the thinker thinks, the prover proves.

The second concept in NLP Personal Development is...

The Map is not the territory

As you can imagine if the subconscious is looking for information to prove what your conscious mind thinks, no matter what that thought is, it can create a lot of limiting beliefs, interpretations and assumptions. We all have experiences that create our MAP of the world of how we see things. Our Map is not necessarily the reality of the world but it is how we view it and experience it.

The language that our client uses is a reflection of their Map and will reveal aspects of them that they may not be aware of. Language is a lever to help change their Map or their thoughts. This in turn has the power to change their beliefs and their life experience.

Language is one of the most powerful tools we have. Try this exercise along with me to see what I mean.

  1. Think of something that you want. (we'll use to be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor for our example)
  2. Say the following phrases to yourself and notice how it feels as you say what you want in the following ways
    • I want to be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor
    • I have to be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor

    • I must be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor

Did any one way feel better to you or more likely to make it happen?

Now express the same goal but start the sentence as follows, again pay attention to how it feels
    • I'd like to be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor
    • I could be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor
    • I will be a successful Home Business Opportunity Sponsor

How was your experience different? Did you find one way that felt more motivating or more likely to move you toward what you want? Most people find that one way feels much better for them than the others. So language definitely makes a difference and can be a powerful tool. Which way worked best for you?

What would happen if you used this way for everything that you desire in your life? It's just a thought : )

Know these NLP Personal Development skills can help you be a better communicator and if you keep them in mind while talking to potential partners you will become a top earner in no time.
